Lucía was born in 1978 in Guatemala City.
She has been painting since early age. She has a Master Degree in Archaeology at the “Universidad del Valle de Guatemala” and devotes long seasons to researching the Mayan Culture. In 2000 she won the contest “Young Creators” of Bancafé with the performance “Guardarecuerdos” (Memory keeper). From that moment on she has shown individually and collectively in Guatemala, Costa Rica and México, consolidating herself as part of a new generation of Guatemalan creators. In 2003 she moved to Barcelona to proceed with her art studies at the well known Massana Art & Desing School. In 2005 she returned to Guatemala where she continues to work, participating in exhibitions very often. She also works as Cultural Manager for the Culture Ministry of Guatemala. In 2007, she moved back to Barcelona, Spain with a MAE-AECID Scholarship to study a Masters in Cultural Management at the University of Barcelona. To date she is focused in her artistic production and in cultural management programs in her native Guatemala.
