About the artist:ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in Guatemala in 1967. He studied at the Guatemalan National School of Fine Arts and tood special courses in painting. He has taken part in numerous group and individual shows such as Expo 500 at El Tunel Gallery, Guatemala City and Guatemalan Artists in Russia, He has shown in New Orleans, at the Blue Art Association in Italy, El Sitio Gallery in Antigua Guatemala.
He has won many national and internationals awards and mentions of honor. In the year 2000 he was selected from amongst 150 Latin-American artists to show in Moscow at the II Spanish-American Festival and was chosen to represent Guatemalan at the Latin-american Art Festival in Japan in the year 2002. In Mauro's work we observe the love and the interest for nature as he portrays elongated figures, suspended in the air, frozen in space, fruits and plants, caps or mirrors resembling heads, embracing the oxygen in the air and the luxuriant tree tops, oasis in deserts; which explain why his color palate include greens, ochres, blues, pinks and oranges. In this series, Mauro looks for tranquility, recreation and peace. |
