About the artist:Arturo Ruano Arturo Ruano is a self-taught artist, his education in art came from an intimate and prolonged experience with the materials and processes in the atmosphere of a foundry at the service of the great sculptors of Guatemala. His open mind absorbed more than the rudiments of the trade: the issues, concerns, aspirations and the ideals of art and artists. His imagination and technical craftsmanship, however, made him easily realize the major complications required for the intellectual transformation of classical and popular sculptural tradition.
